Review Documentary: Life in a Day 2020 (YouTube)
A bad day for you can be a joyful day for another. Someone’s birth can happen at the same time of someone else’s death. Small things you take for granted can mean the whole world for other people.
We live in a big world and not a single person goes with their day the exact same way. One wakes up before 3 am. Others might stay in their bed past 1pm One works gruelly all day long just to get a glass, while the other is enjoying their honeymoon across the ocean.
This variety, this hegemony, is what Life in a Day documentary tries to say. One day in 2020, through the lenses of hundreds, maybe even thousands different people.
It shows how people all over the world spend their day–whether they’re attending graduation ceremonies, going for a romantic hike with their significant others, saying goodbye to people who recently died, or simply surviving, when even one intake of breath is a luxury.
Watching this documentary is a roller coaster of emotions. Tearing up over the birth of a baby daughter or a loss of an adult son? You can witness both events just in the span of fifteen minutes.
Celebrating marriage or going through a break up? Surprise–it can happen to two different couples at the same time.
For many of you, one day doesn’t seem to be much. However, this documentary begs to differ.
No matter how boring, how uneventful your day, it is still something to be grateful for. Because there might be a day that you can’t enjoy that mundanity of it.
On the other hand, if you’re going through a difficult phase of your life, don’t worry. Next time might be better. Tomorrow might bring happiness to you.
After all, it’s just a day in contrast to maybe the dozens and hundreds of days you still have left.
And even if today is your last day on Earth–especially if it is your last day on Earth–isn’t it better to do your best and enjoy it to the fullest?
